Our Behavioral Services
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a therapy based on the principles of behavior analysis. ABA uses scientifically-based techniques to help teach communication, play, social, academic, self-care, work and community living skills. ABA is not a "one size fits all" approach. Programs are customized for each individual and can change as the needs and functioning of the learner change.
The Summit Behavioral Services team focuses on a person-centered approach to services to align clinical needs with personal and family priorities. Skill deficits are determined through direct and indirect assessment measures. Treatment plan goals are developed based on the results of assessments, and programming is created to promote caregiver implementation outside of ABA sessions. Parent training is also a foundational component of our services to support the family dynamic and the individual acquires new skills. Programming can be embedded within roleplay and in-vivo situations to encourage natural interaction and to further understand how an individual's behavior works, how their behavior is affected by the environment and how that behavior responds in real situations. The goal of ABA is to increase positive behaviors while decreasing detrimental ones.
Currently, ABA services are offered to families within a 30 mile radius from Worcester.
Potential clients should complete and submit the ABA Intake packet and provide the following documentation:
Most recent IEP
Most recent neuropsychological report
Picture of front and back of insurance card
Information should be submitted to email@example.com
From there, clients will be added to a waitlist.
The waitlist is reviewed regularly to determine if there is mutual location and availability for staff and client.
The intake process begins with requesting an authorization to complete an assessment through the insurance company and the family completing the necessary consent forms.
Once assessment authorization is obtained, an intake interview with caregivers, observations at school and home, and assessments are conducted and summarized in a report that is submitted to the insurance company to request ongoing ABA services authorization. This process typically takes 3-6 weeks.
